Services and fees

Clear scope. Flat fees. Your narrative.

Every engagement starts with a conversation about what you're trying to fund. Fees are published, scope is confirmed in writing before any work begins, and your organization owns everything we create together.

Community rate

25% off proposals, retainers, on-demand services, and cohort work for eligible organizations. Ask when you reach out.

What sets this practice apart

Priced openly. Delivered in writing.

Fixed scope, published fees, and documents your team keeps and reuses. Here is what that looks like in practice.

1

Fees you can read first

Every fixed fee is on this page, from a $200 strategy session to a $6,500 proposal, and confirmed in writing before any work begins.

2

Deliverables in writing

A strategy session ends with a written summary within two business days. A declined proposal gets a written debrief you can bring to your board.

3

Mapped before drafted

The compliance checklist comes first: every prompt, character limit, attachment, and eligibility gate, so the draft is written to the funder's specifications from the first line.

4

Evidence you can cite

Logic models and research case statements carry Chicago-style citations to peer-reviewed and government sources, in four domains: arts, LGBTQ+, immigrant communities, and economic development.

5

Language that centers community

Every proposal gets a framing and language review: community voices lead, conditions are described honestly, and the language stays asset-based.

6

Built to be reused

Boilerplate, case statements, calendars, and pipeline maps are yours to keep, so the next proposal starts from work already done.

7

Priced for the work you do

A 25% community rate for eligible organizations, and cohort pricing for fiscal sponsors and funders that support several organizations at once.

8

English and Spanish

I write and advise in both languages. I'm a member of the Grant Professionals Association and follow its Code of Ethics: no success fees, no commissions, no promised outcomes.

Cohorts and intermediaries

For fiscal sponsors, regranting programs, networks, and capacity-building funds.

One agreement with your organization covers scoped grant writing for 3 to 8 organizations in your portfolio, each on its own timeline. Every organization keeps ownership of its narrative, and my editorial independence is written into the agreement.

Per-organization services
A 15% cohort rate on each organization's services, applied on top of the community rate where an organization qualifies.

$900

$850each

Ongoing campaign research and writing

The community rate applies to fixed-fee services. Hourly engagements are quoted individually. A funder pipeline map can add an impact capital track for $150.

Any of the services above, billed by the hour under a signed contract and a written scope of work, issued by your organization or by me. A good fit for consulting firms, cooperatives, and campaigns that work on contract.

Weekly minimum

Five hours a week at $75 an hour, billed as a monthly block of $1,625 at the start of each month. The first month is due at signing; hours beyond the block appear on the next invoice.

3-month minimum, then month to month

Hourly

Hours billed monthly, due in 30 days. The first 20 hours are paid up front.

10-hour minimum

Monthly cap

A set number of hours each month at an agreed rate. Unused hours don't roll over; extra hours are billed hourly or the work pauses, as agreed.

3-month minimum

Not-to-exceed contract

One cap for the whole engagement, billed on actual hours up to that limit. I let you know when we reach 90%.

20-hour minimum

A clear path, from first conversation to submission.

Port Park, Chelsea, MA, 2019 · From the series Uprooted

How it works

From first call to submission.

The proposal schedule is below. Retainers begin with the same discovery session; on-demand services begin once I have your materials.

  1. 1

    Conversation

    First call

Thirty minutes about what you're trying to fund, what you've tried, and what feels stuck. No commitment.

  2. 2

    Scope and agreement

    Before work begins

I confirm scope and fee in writing. A signed agreement and the 50% deposit start the schedule.

  3. 3

    Discovery session

    Days 1 to 7

A 90-minute interview, plus your core documents: your most recent Form 990 and annual report, program descriptions, and a budget overview. This is how I learn to write in your voice.

  4. 4

    Drafting and revision

    Days 8 to 21

I draft the narrative and budget narrative, then you review. Two revision rounds are included.

  5. 5

    Delivery

    Days 22 to 30

You receive a submission-ready package with instructions. Your organization submits and owns the final narrative.

How fees work

50% at signing and the balance on the schedule in your agreement. Retainers and hourly work bill monthly.

No success fees

No commissions or percentages of awards, per the Grant Professionals Association Code of Ethics.

No guaranteed outcomes

I bring rigor, honesty, and a strong proposal to every engagement. Funding decisions belong to funders.

Fees effective October 2026.

Questions

Before we begin.

What makes your fees different?

Every fixed fee is published, and scope and fee are confirmed in writing before work begins. Even the optional extras, such as an added revision round or a Greater Boston site visit, are priced on this page. There are no commissions and no percentages of awards.

Do you work on commission?

No. I don't take commissions, percentages of awards, or success fees, per the Grant Professionals Association Code of Ethics. Fees are set in writing before work begins.

We have a small budget. What are our options?

Start where the cost is lowest. A 60-minute strategy session is $200 and ends with a written summary; the $200 is credited toward a proposal or retainer if you move forward within 30 days. A compliance checklist is $350 and lays out every requirement before anyone drafts, so your team can write to the funder's specifications. Eligible organizations also receive a 25% community rate. Ask when you reach out.

Do you write federal grants?

No. My work is with foundation and state arts council proposals and with capital campaigns, so I don't take on federal grant proposals.

Do you research corporate and impact capital funders?

Yes, as separate services. A 12-month corporate funding calendar is $700. For capital campaign clients, an impact capital calendar is $900, and a funder pipeline map can add a corporate donor track or an impact capital track for $150 each.

What do you need from us to start?

Your most recent IRS Form 990 and annual report, current program descriptions with participation numbers, your board roster, a budget overview, and the funder's guidelines and application form. You own the budget numbers; I write the narrative. We go through everything in a 90-minute discovery session.

How long does it take?

A full proposal takes 30 days from a signed agreement and deposit, and I need at least 30 days before your deadline. Most on-demand services arrive in 2 to 10 business days once I have your materials: 2 for a strategy session summary, 3 to 5 for a compliance checklist or submission-ready package, 5 for a funder research brief or budget narrative, 5 to 7 for a grant calendar or corporate funding calendar, and 7 to 10 for a funder pipeline map, an impact capital calendar, or longer documents such as a letter of inquiry, logic model, or research case statement. A Case for Support takes 15 to 20 business days.

Who owns the narrative?

Your organization owns everything we create together. I write and advise; you make the final decisions about what goes to a funder.

Do you work in Spanish?

Yes. I work in English and Spanish, and this page is available in both.

Let's talk.

Tell me what you're trying to fund, what you've tried, and what feels stuck. I reply to messages within two business days.

The conversation is thirty minutes, with no commitment. The strategy session is sixty minutes and ends with a written summary; the $200 is credited toward a proposal or retainer agreed within 30 days.
